Prototype notes · for the team, not customers

What this is, what’s placeholder, what’s next

A nightlife-only local-business directory with a community layer: the venue is the atom, cities and neighborhoods are the navigation, members supply what listings can’t, and businesses claim their own page. Bookable “arranged nights” survive only deep inside Tijuana. Static content renders on the server; cross-page state (sessions, posts, claims, bookings) lives in the browser.

Decisions taken

Directory first, not a shop. No prices on the home, city or venue pages. Tijuana’s hosted evenings, rides and hotels sit behind the city page’s “extras” card and the venue page’s “arranged nights that stop here”.
Listings name real places. 11 in Tijuana plus 41 across nine cities. Descriptions are neutral; hours, cover, dress, prices and websites are “not verified” until the owner claims the listing or a member checks them. Fictional venues from the earlier prototype are labelled “sample”.
Members and posts are sample content. 13 sample members, 31 seed posts across five kinds (night report, tip, my night, asking, long read). Profiles carry a “Sample member” tag. Times are relative so the feed always reads as live.
Trust model: new members reviewed. Simulated accounts (no passwords). A new member’s first three posts go to the operator’s review queue; three approvals make them trusted and they publish directly. Replies publish immediately. Business claims also queue for a person.
Visual system. Modernist’s grid, rules and components with one theme tuned toward the Mexico Exotic reference: cream, forest green, sunset orange, gold and turquoise, Yeseva One over Figtree. Illustration and photo slots are captioned placeholders.
Local time per city is real (browser time zones); “open now” is deliberately absent until hours are verified.

Next steps

Real accounts, a real review inbox for the operator, and email — the trust model is designed for one person to run.
A live map on venue and city pages; “open now” once claimed hours exist.
Structured data on venue pages (LocalBusiness / NightClub / BarOrPub schema) — the local-SEO reason the directory exists.
Replace placeholders with member photos and commissioned city illustrations; rewrite the About and Help copy for the directory model.
Legal review of the drafts and of the adult-venue policy; decide whether Tijuana’s bookable layer stays or becomes a partner link.
