Terms of service
These terms cover using nightlifecompass.com as a visitor, a member who posts, a business that claims a listing, or a traveler who books an arranged night in Tijuana. By using the site you agree to them. Plain language throughout; the meaning is what counts.
1. What Nightlife Compass is
A directory of nightlife venues and a community of people who go to them. Venue listings are compiled by us, corrected by members and, once claimed, maintained by the business. Member posts are the opinions and observations of their authors, not ours. In Tijuana we also act as a booking agent for arranged evenings, rides and rooms supplied by independent operators named on each listing; we are not the operator of those services.
2. Who may use it
Adults, 18 and over. Venues check government photo ID at the door regardless of what any page says; being refused for failing a venue’s published age, ID or dress requirements is your responsibility, not the venue’s or ours.
3. Accounts
One account per person, under a name you are willing to stand behind. Keep your sign-in secure; you are responsible for what is posted from your account. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and we may require a person to review a member’s posts at any time — new members’ first three posts are always reviewed before they appear.
4. Posting
You keep ownership of what you post and give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to show it on the site, in search results and in previews of the site, for as long as it is published, with your display name. You promise it is yours to post, true to the best of your knowledge, and that anyone identifiable in a photo or video agreed to appear.
Not allowed: offering, seeking or hinting at sexual services in any form; explicit content; photos of strangers’ faces or of staff without consent; harassment, threats or doxxing; invented reviews, paid reviews or posting about your own business as if you were a guest; spam and unrelated advertising; anything unlawful where you or the venue are. We remove such content when we see it and close the accounts behind it. Sexual-service content closes the account on the first occurrence.
5. Listings, accuracy and “not verified”
We name real places and describe them neutrally. Hours, prices, cover, dress codes and policies are marked “not verified” until the business confirms them or a member checks them, and even then they change. Check before you go. Neighborhood and proximity notes describe convenience, not safety; we make no safety assurances and publish no border-crossing times. If a listing about your business is wrong, claim it or tell us and we will correct it with a date.
6. Business claims
Claiming a listing is free and requires proof that you speak for the business, verified by a person. Once claimed you may set hours, cover, dress, website and photos and reply under the business name. You may not remove members’ honest posts, only answer or flag them. Listings for lawful venues only: we do not list, arrange, sell or take commission on sexual services, and a claimed listing used to do so is removed, not reconsidered. We may unclaim a listing if the person who claimed it leaves the business or the details prove false.
7. Adult entertainment venues
Adult entertainment is part of many cities’ nightlife and we describe such venues factually, for adults, without euphemism. They are listed for information only unless the business has claimed the listing and lawful operation has been verified; even then only admission to lawful entertainment may be offered. Member posts about them follow section 4 without exception.
8. Bookings (Tijuana arranged nights)
Products marked “instant confirmation” are binding when checkout completes. “Request to book” products bind — and are charged — only when the provider confirms; you may withdraw a request before then at no cost. Prices are shown in US dollars with an indicative peso figure; the charged amount and currency are stated at checkout. Cancellations follow the cancellation policy and the terms on each product. The provider is responsible for delivering the service; we are responsible for the booking, payment handling and support, and for pursuing refunds due to you under the published terms.
9. Our content
Guides, listing descriptions, the design and the name Nightlife Compass are ours or licensed to us. You may link to any page and quote short passages with attribution. You may not scrape the directory or republish it in bulk without written permission.
10. Reporting and takedowns
Anyone can flag a post or a listing detail. A person reviews flags, usually within two business days. Rights-holders can send takedown notices to the contact page; we act on valid notices and tell the poster.
11. Disclaimers and liability
The directory and community are provided as they are. We do not guarantee that any listing is accurate, that any venue is open, safe or suitable, or that any member’s post is true. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for what happens in a venue, on a night out, or as a result of relying on a post; our liability for bookings is limited to the amount you paid us for the booking concerned. Nothing here limits rights you have as a consumer that cannot be limited by contract.
12. Ending things
You can delete your account at any time from your profile; see the privacy policy for what happens to your posts. We can suspend or end accounts and listings that break these terms, and will say why unless the law prevents it.
13. Law, disputes and changes
Governing law and venue to be set by counsel for the operator’s jurisdiction, with mandatory consumer protections of your home country preserved. We will try to resolve any dispute informally first. We may update these terms; material changes are announced to signed-in members before they take effect, and the date at the top always tells you which version you are reading.
